The site also includes links to the Wisconsin-Milwaukee Blending Life and Learning program, which is supported by a $500,000 grant from the Sloan-Consortium.

A Meta-Analysis of the Empirical Literature

http://projects.ict.usc.edu/itw/materials/clark/DE_Meta_Fin_Jan11-04.pdf This article submitted for publication in Review of Educational Research presents a meta-analysis of studies comparing the effectiveness of distance education and traditional, face-to-face courses. Dependent variables included student achievement, student attitudes, and retention. A total of 232 studies were included in the meta-analysis. Table 22 on page 32 summarizes significant factors affecting the dependent variables of interest.
